North Tipp Wheelers

On to Ardcroney

A good sign-on of riders and a fine, sunny warm evening made for some very interesting racing in the first race of a series of six over the same 14 mile course.
In the scratch competition, Shane Scully was in his usual flying form and not only took the fastest time of 33.38 but knocked 1.19 off his previous effort in the warm-up race. John Foote was in truly explosive form, coming in just 9 seconds behind Shane and creaming 2.45 off his previous time. William Murphy and Mike O’Keeffe took third and fourth places.
When the handicaps calculated on the warm-up race were put in place, the stage went to Wheelers, and indeed racing newcomer, Duncan Hodgins who lessened his time by a massive 8.01. Another newcomer to the racing scene, John McCarthy also produced an impressive time as did Paul Lenihan, both men knocking well over three minutes off their previous times.
